MET 2012: el latido de la moda

No podía dejar pasar el día de hoy sin dedicarle un post a la MET 2012. La noche de ayer era testigo, un año más, del evento de moda más importante del mundo. Metropolitan Museum, Nueva York. La todopoderosa Anna Wintour como anfitriona. Una alfombra roja, celebrities y mucho, mucho, glamour. La flor y nata del mundo del espectáculo y la moda se compactó en su máximo apogeo en unas pocas e intensas horas, que transcurrieron entre flashes, micrófonos, críticas, conversaciones y miradas. Un evento en el que no hacen falta más requisitos que el poder que otorga la fama y el estilo.

I couldn't let pass today without dedicating a post the 2012 MET. Last night was yet again, for another year, the testimony of the world’s most important fashion event. The Metropolitan Museum in New York city. The almighty Anna Wintour as the host. A magnificent red carpet, celebrities and lots of glamour. The cream of show business and the fashion world got together for a few but intense hours, which occurred in a midst of flashes, microphones, reviews, conversations and looks. An event in which the only thing required was the power given by fame and style.

Si algo definió a esta improvisada pasarela -objetivo de miles de millones de miradas a lo largo y ancho del globo- fue la diversidad de estilos y modelos que caminaron sobre ella. Los vestidos largos -como dictaba la ocasión, a mi juicio- fueron los protagonistas. Pronunciados escotes, colas, transparencias, brillos y bordados. Los colores por los que más apostaron nuestras estrellas fueron los metalizados -dorado y plateado-, los cálidos -como el amarillo, el naranja o el rojo- y los clásicos y elegantes por antonomasia blanco y negro.
Sin extenderme más, después de ver muchas galerías y leer opiniones de críticos de moda de lo más diverso, me aventuro a dejaos una breve lista de las que fueron para mí las mejores y peores vestidas de esta edición. Me centro solo en ellas, ya que siempre me ha costado sacarle peros o diferencias a los esmoquins del género masculino.

If something defined this improvised runway -upon which millions of eyes were watching across the globe- it was the diversity of styles and models that walked it. The long dresses -that the occasion dictatedin my opinion- were the true stars of the night. Cleavages, tails, transparencies, shines and embroideries. The colors in which the stars of the night made their bets branched from the metalized gold and silver, the warmth colors, like the yellows, oranges and red without forgetting the classic quintessential black and white.
ithout going any further and after seeing many galleries and reading the widest and most diverse fashion critics’ reviews, I adventure myself into leaving you a brief list of who were for me the night’s best and worst dressed stars. I shall only focus on the female dresses since I’ve always had trouble with finding ifs and differences in the male gender classic tuxedos.

Un año más tendrá que transcurrir para que tengamos la oportunidad de ver a tantas y tan diferentes caras conocidas luciendo las prendas de las marcas más veneradas del panorama de la moda. Pero un año se pasa pronto, sin duda.

One more year will have to pass for us to have the opportunity to see so many and so different know faces wearing the clothes of the most revered names and brands of the fashion scene. But there is no doubt that for such an occasion a year is a worthwhile wait.
